Spots on the valley.

Tunnel View overlook

The most-photographed Yosemite spot — El Cap left, Bridalveil right, Half Dome center. Permit not required for under-12 ceremonies. Sunset is unmatched. Sunrise has zero crowds.

Wawona Tunnel approach

Walk-in pathway from the parking lot — gives a 50-yard ceremony aisle option with valley-view backdrop. Great for processional moments.

Bridalveil Fall trail (10 min hike)

5-minute drive then quick walk — falls roar in spring, mist + rainbow shots. Good portrait stop after Tunnel View ceremony.

Valley View pullout (3 min away)

Lower-elevation alternative angle. River reflection on calm days. Less crowded than Tunnel View itself.

Cathedral Beach + El Capitan Meadow

Valley-floor ceremony alternates if you want El Cap-up-close instead of the panorama. Great for couples who want a quieter spot.

The Ahwahnee for reception

After Tunnel View ceremony, drive 20 min to The Ahwahnee for dinner. Historic 1927 valley hotel — Great Lounge ballroom is the move.

FAQ

Most-asked.

Permit needed at Tunnel View?+
For under-12 guests, often no permit required (treat as a private ceremony at a public viewpoint). For 12+ guests, NPS permit ~$300, file 2 to 4 months ahead. Always check current NPS rules — they update.
Best time of day?+
Sunrise (5am to 7am) — zero crowds, clean light, El Cap in fog. Sunset (7pm to 9pm) — alpenglow on Half Dome, more crowds but legendary light. Skip midday — harsh light + crowded.
Cost?+
AGV starts at $4,500 for elopement-scale (under 12 guests). Includes 6 hours, ceremony + portraits + intimate dinner. Multi-day Yosemite weddings $6,500 to $8,500.
Best month?+
May (waterfalls peak), June (warm + green), September (clear weather, low crowds), October (gold leaves). Skip July to August (crowds + smoke risk). Skip Dec to March (Tioga + Glacier closed, road risks).
Backup plan if it rains?+
Tunnel View in rain is actually photogenic — moody clouds, dramatic light shafts. We bring rain gear. If torrential, move to Cathedral Beach (covered approach) or The Ahwahnee Great Lounge.
