Russian River vs. main Sonoma wine country?+
Russian River is more rustic and forest-y — redwoods, river ferns, mossy log architecture. Main Sonoma (Healdsburg, Glen Ellen) is more polished — manicured estates, chateau-style buildings. RR weddings feel like a long weekend in the woods; Sonoma weddings feel like a polished destination event.
Can guests stay on-property?+
Most RR venues have on-property lodging (AutoCamp, Dawn Ranch, Highland Dell). For the others (private homes, vineyards), Guerneville town has plenty of cabin rentals + boutique B&Bs within 5-10 min drive.
What about flooding / fire risk?+
Russian River does flood during heavy winter rains (Jan-March) — we don't book weddings in that window typically. Summer/fall fire risk we monitor weekly. Most venues have indoor backup plans + we'll know 7 days out if conditions are concerning.
Travel from Bay Area?+
Yes — RR is 90 min from SF. Travel from SF Bay included in pricing. Friday arrival, Sunday departure standard for full Photo + Film coverage.
How early should we book?+
Saturday weddings May–October — 12 to 18 months out. Dawn Ranch + AutoCamp fill earliest. Off-season + Friday/Sunday — 6 to 9 months.
